Powder Springs Golf Course Homes

The City of Powder Springs is proud of its city-wide trail system which connects neighborhoods, parks, commercial and employment centers, public facilities, the historic downtown area and the regional Silver Comet Trail.

The Silver Comet Trail is a 59-mile multi-use trail running from Smyrna to the Georgia/Alabama border through the City of Powder Springs. Built on an abandoned rail right-of-way, this paved trail accommodates bicyclists, skaters and walkers, hikers, joggers and persons with disabilities. A significant portion of the trail also has a section open to horses beginning west of Florence Road in Powder Springs.

The 1.5 mile Wildhorse Trail begins at the Wildhorse Creek Park on Macedonia Road and continues along Wildhorse and Noses Creek to the point where it connects with the Silver Comet Trail at Carter Road. Along the path of the Wildhorse Trail is the largest red maple tree in Georgia, known as a "State Champion Tree." The Trail also features a wetlands observation tower just south of Hopkins Road and a rest area near Powder Springs Road. Parking is available at the Wildhorse Creek Park with access on Lancer Drive and at Carter Road with access at the Silver Comet trestle bridge.

Like the Silver Comet Trail, the Wildhorse Trail is designed to accommodate bicyclists, skaters and walkers, hikers, joggers and persons with disabilities. It does not have facilities for horses, however. The trail is open from dawn to dusk except after rainstorms.

The Lucille Trail is a 10-foot wide concrete facility just over a mile in length and is located west of the historic downtown along the western bank of the Lucille Creek. It begins at Shipp Road and follows the creek south, crosses the Silver Comet Trail and continues to Powder Springs-Dallas Highway where it connects with an 8-foot path to connect to the town center at the intersection of Brownsville Road and Marietta Street improvements and completes the downtown loop along Marietta and Dillard Streets to the Silver Comet Trail at the Dillard Street trailhead. Like the Wildhorse Trail to the east, the Lucille Trail functions as a recreation and transportation corridor. Residents are able to travel without a vehicle to numerous destinations, including Powder Springs and Wildhorse Creek Parks, historic downtown, the library, and employment and commercial centers.

Delightful downtown Powder Springs offers both residents and very welcome visitors a refreshing and unique shopping and dining experience. Composed of eclectic and interesting mix of both shops and restaurants, it is a genuine alternative to the strip shopping mall experience. Downtown Powder Springs is attractive, compact, safe and very pedestrian friendly.

Although, there are not yet many Powder Springs Golf Course Homes and Communities available, Powder Springs does offer one of the best kept secrets in Cobb County, Dogwood is a semi-private facility located near Austell and Powder Springs. Located just off the East-West Connector, halfway between Cumberland and Town Center Malls, it is convenient from the Vinings, Marietta, and Kennesaw areas

Powder Springs Golf Course Homes Is the Best

The tree-lined, 6,275-yard, 18-hole course is a true test of the game and a golfer's abilities. Reminiscent of the wonderful older courses, Dogwood rewards the shot-maker and the golfer who has the maturity to manage their game. It is not tricky nor does it incorporate gimmicks, but an honest use of the terrain and water hazards creates a challenge and proves that length alone is not enough to characterize a golf course. The well maintained bent grass greens "roll true" and the undulating and sloping plateaus require careful "reading" and execution to score even for the discriminating golfer. The immaculate fairways planted with 419 Bermuda grass are among the best in the Atlanta area. Regardless Powder Springs Golf Course Homes aren't far behind.
